Why Every Piece of Jewelry I Make is a Love Letter to the Earth

Happy Earth Day! Today is a day that feels very personal to me and the mission behind Silverware Treasures. When I first started creating jewelry from vintage and antique silverware, I wasn’t just looking for a creative outlet; I was looking for a way to honor the past while protecting our future.

Sustainability is in my DNA

I often get asked where I find my inspiration. The truth is, it started with my late grandmother. She taught me the value of "old things" and the thrill of the hunt at second hand stores. Today, I’ve turned that passion into a circular business model.

For me, sustainability isn’t a trend or a marketing buzzword. It’s the heartbeat of every ring, pendant, and bracelet I hand-craft in my studio.

The Impact of Choosing Upcycled

You might wonder: Does buying one spoon ring really make a difference? The answer is a resounding yes. Here is why:

Zero New Mining: Traditional jewelry often relies on newly mined metals, a process that is incredibly resource-heavy. Repurposing existing silver and steel can reduce carbon emissions by up to 87% compared to mining new materials.

Landfill Diversion: I spend my time rescuing beautiful antique and vintage patterns that have been forgotten or discarded. By giving them a second life, I’m keeping high-quality metals out of the landfill and giving them an opportunity to shine instead.

Ethical, Small-Batch Craftsmanship: I am a one-woman show. Every piece is sourced, cleaned, cut, sanded, drilled and polished by me. There are no mass-production factories or long supply chains involved; just intentional, local art.

Wear the Change

This Earth Day, I want to thank you for supporting my small business. When you wear a piece from Silverware Treasures, you aren’t just wearing a beautiful accessory; you’re wearing a story of rescue and renewal.

You’re helping me prove that we can have high-end, boutique style without costing the Earth.

How are you celebrating our planet today? I’d love to hear your favorite sustainable tips in the comments below!
